Wellington New Zealand
Heading down to the Southern tip on the North Island you will head into Wellington. Capital of New Zealand since 1865, replacing Auckland. Wellington is on Cook Strait, the passage that separates the North and South Islands. On a clear day the snow capped Kaikoura Ranges can be seen to the south across the strait. Once you get through Upper Hutt and then through Lower Hutt you notice right off just how massive Wellington is. And yes the Hutts are real names of towns. Tourist and the local love this town because of the one of a kind inner-city. Its great for pedestrians, plenty of malls and side alleys that connect into streets, cafes spill from refurbished Victorian buildings.
