Milford Sound New Zealand
Fiordland is located south-west coast of the South Island of New Zealand. This is the world famous 1.2 million hectares of the most outstanding dramatic wilderness on a grand scale that you will ever see. There are waterfalls hundreds of meters high running out of forest valleys and sheer cliff that gracefully run deep into the sea. Tons of rare wildlife from native birds rarely seen and some spectacular sea creatures as well can be seen on foot or from a sail boot.

You can see the sights of Fiordland National Park by boat or by sea kayak. I think the kayak would be the best, you can get up close to wildlife and you can go almost anywhere a large boat can’t get to. Walk through some famous walking trails like Milford, Kepler and Hollyford. Walk on your own or hire a guide.
The Fiorland landscape is mostly water and mountains. So the main way of seeing the beauty of Milford Sound is by boat. Sail boat, small cruise boat or sea kayak is some of the best ways of seeing everything up close and personal. There are about a dozen or so groups that can accommodate your needs to travel by water. Hiring a Sea plane is an excellent way of seeing the awesome landscape. Of course landing in the forest is out of the question. So you might have to do a combination of all the above. Take a boat into a small cove and set anchor. Then head of on foot and do some hiking into the countryside.
Here is just a very small sampling of attractions that you can do in Milford Sound New Zealand. Mitre Peak Cruise takes you a 2 hour cruise in smaller boats so you can get closer to the landscapes, wildlife and the water falls. Helicopter trips are also available from Queenstown and Te Anau. Milford Wanderer Overnight Cruise, shared bunk room accommodations in an overnight cruise. Southern Discoveries offers several types of cruises, Scenic Cruise, Encounter Nature Small Boat Cruise, and Discover More Cruise, with a few others. All have food and bar options that can be included.
And it goes without saying there are plenty of accommodations that you can chose from to stay at. Like Kings-Hotel Te Ananu, Takaro Peace Resort Te Anau and the Manapouri Lakeview Motor Inn Te Anau. I am sure all the hotels a great places to stay, but you're not in the area for the cable TV in the room.
This lodge has all the standard accommodations, but to take it one step further, they also offer rainforest tents, campervan sites and camping sites. All the things you need to get back to nature in the outback of New Zealand.
